Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM seeks input on proposed oil and gas management updates in central coast region of California

MARINA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management Central Coast Field Office is announcing a 30-day public comment period to gather input on a supplemental environmental impact statement and potential amendment to the resource management plan for oil and gas leasing and development on public lands in Alameda, Contra Costa, Monterey, San Benito, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties, and portions of Fresno, Merced, and San Joaquin counties.

Due to ongoing wildland fire activity, the BLM is closing the southwestern portion of the White Mountains National Recreation Area surrounding the Wickersham Dome Trailhead at mile 28 Elliott Highway, north of Fairbanks.

The Bureau of Land Management Cedar City Field Office is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment evaluating the proposed use of Class 1 e-bikes on designated mountain bike trails within six trail systems across public lands in Iron and Beaver Counties.

BLM prepares emergency actions to help wild horses in drought-stricken areas within the Muddy Creek Herd Management Area

BLM will begin an emergency gather around June 24 to remove up to 40 wild horses from Utah’s Muddy Creek HMA due to drought. Bait and water traps will be used, with no helicopters involved.
