An effort by the Bureau of Land Management and Nevada Department of Wildlife to stabilize and rehabilitate thousands of acres of eastern Nevada’s fire-damaged public lands concluded successfully.
The 13-mile Scenic Drive at Red Rock Canyon will be open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting March 1. This change happens yearly as days become longer and sunset is later in the day. The Visitors’ Center will continue to be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Nevada Department of Corrections – Silver State Industries are hosting a saddle-trained wild horse and burro adoption event on February 25 at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC) located at 1721 Snyder Avenue, south of Carson City, Nevada.
The Winnemucca District and Friends of Black Rock High Rock (FBR) are soliciting artists for this year’s Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area (NCA) Artist in Residence (AiR) program. This project is sponsored by the BLM in partnership with FBR. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2017.
