Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

Multiple fires reported in Northwest Colorado

Four fires are currently burning in Northwest Colorado. The Lee Fire is southwest of Meeker, the Jack Springs Fire is north of Massadona, the Elk Fire is east of Meeker and the Grease Fire is west of Meeker.

White Sage Fire Daily Update - Aug. 1, 2025

The White Sage Fire is 95% contained. Light, individual smokes may be visible within the fire perimeter as crews continue to repair suppression lines.

BLM Wind River/Bighorn Basin District issues fire restrictions

Due to dry conditions and high fire danger, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions will begin August 1XX on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management Wind River/Bighorn Basin District’s Cody, Lander and Worland field offices in Big Horn, Carbon, Fremont, Hot Springs, Natrona, Park, Sweetwater and Washakie counties.
