The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has received wild burro removal requests from private land owners for human health and safety. Burros are traveling on to private lands from State lands and causing damage to landscaping and utilizing forage and water allocated for private livestock use on private lands within the Dove Valley neighborhood. The burros are within an area identified by several state agencies, such as Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD), Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Peoria Police Department (PPD), Phoenix Police Department (PHPD), and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department (MCSO) that are near dense densely populated neighborhoods with major, highly trafficked roadways posing a significant hazard to residents and motorists. The burros have also been southwest of the LPHMA contributing to the disturbance of livestock operations in the area.
