Eastern States Public Room
Visitors to Washington, D.C. may walk into the Public Room of the BLM Eastern States one block from the Washington Nationals MLB ball park, and discover information about recreation on public lands just a short drive from the nation's capital. We provide brochures about the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area in Lorton, Virginia; and the Douglas Point Special Recreation Management Area located across the Potomac River in Nanjemoy, Maryland.
BLM Eastern States houses the largest collection of Land Title Records in the world including more than 9 million historic records dating back to 1787. Many people visit our Public Room to consult this official collection of records as they research geneaology, questions of ownership, or other land title issues.
While visiting with us, you may purchase America the Beautiful Passes, which cover entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges as well as standard amenity fees at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the BLM, Bureau of Reclamation, and day use fees at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
