Bell and Limekiln Canyons WSA

Values

The Bell and Limekiln Canyon WSA is a mosaic of grass, sagebrush, forested ridges, canyons, and slopes.  Drainages are seasonally dry except for occasional springs.  Mule deer and elk hunting are outstanding here.  There are also outstanding opportunities for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Visitation

From Dillon, Montana, drive south approximately 25 miles on I-15 to exit 37.  Turn right (north) on Red Rock Road North and drive roughly 3.1 miles to Sunset West Road, also signed as BLM Road 1852. Turn left (south) and drive roughly 1.3 miles where there is a 90 degree turn in the road, and BLM Road 1852 continues straight (south); there is an entering public lands sign here.  Continue following the BLM road roughly 2 miles to the bottom of Limekiln Canyon.  A trail goes upstream (west) in Limekiln Canyon which is in the WSA from this point on.

Visitor Advisory

Be bear aware! Proper food storage and carrying bear spray is encouraged.  The access roads in this area are rough, steep, and narrow and may require parking early and walking or a vehicle such as an ATV to reach the WSA boundary.
