Coeur d'Alene District Office

The Coeur d’Alene District, located in the northern panhandle of Idaho, manages approximately 230,000 acres of public land. The District encompasses 11 counties, bordering Canada to the north, Montana to the east, Washington to the west and stretching south through north central Idaho. The District is divided into two geographic areas including the Cottonwood (130,000 acres) and Coeur d’Alene (98,000 acres) Field Offices. The northern panhandle of Idaho is known for its abundant rivers and lakes, as well as the forested terrain.  As such, water-based recreation activities and a robust forestry program are the two primary focus areas of the district.   The Coeur d’Alene District is cooperatively managed with BLM’s Oregon-Washington Spokane District.

COVID-19 Updates

BLM Idaho Offices are open for in-person visits. Masking requirements vary by location. The BLM has updated its masking guidelines to align with the CDC’s new COVID-19 Community Level tool. This CDC guidance helps communities decide what prevention steps to take. Individuals who are not required to wear a mask are still welcome to do so if they choose. Learn more about the BLM's COVID-19 response here.

Please stay home if you have symptoms of COVID-19. If you are unable to visit in person, we will be happy to assist you over the phone or via email. Contact us here.
