BOISE, Idaho – The Bureau of Land Management will offer two timber sales in August totaling more than 6 million board feet to be harvested from roughly 445 acres in central and northern Idaho. Timber produced from these sales will provide critical supplies for construction and other industries, and support jobs in local communities.

The Coeur d’Alene District will offer the West Fork II Pine Creek timber sale of approximately 5.6 million board feet for commercial thinning on 372 acres near Pinehurst in Shoshone County. BLM will accept written bids until 4:30 p.m. PDT on Sept. 8, 2025, at the Coeur d’Alene District Office, 3232 W. Nursery Rd., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815. The timber sale will leave an average of 36 trees per acre, making it much more resistant and resilient to wildland fire.

The Idaho Falls District will offer the Sand Hollow Sanitation salvage sale of approximately 450,000 board feet to be harvested from 73 acres near Rockland in Power County. The BLM will accept sealed bids until 2 p.m. MDT on Aug. 28, 2025, at the Pocatello Field Office, 4350 Cliffs Dr., Pocatello, ID 83204. This salvage sale is to remove dead, infested, damaged, or down trees for stand improvement.

“We are committed to sustainably managing the health of the forest by controlling diseases in these timber stands, resulting in an overall ecologically balanced stand, while increasing wildfire resiliency,” said BLM Coeur d’Alene District Manager Kurt Pindel. “It’s exciting to work with our local constituents to improve the health of these areas, while creating job opportunities for our local communities.”

America has significant timber resources, and the BLM is focused on using forests for timber and jobs that improve life for all Americans. These sales support Executive Order 14225, “Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production.”

Committed to supplying a reliable, secure, and resilient domestic supply of timber, BLM Idaho manages approximately 770,000 acres of forest lands and approximately 300,000 acres of woodlands. Local communities rely on BLM forest jobs. In 2024, timber sales generated nearly $21 million for Idaho rural economies. BLM’s forestry program supports economic security, reduces risk of wildfire, conserves fish and wildlife habitat, and decreases costs of energy production.
