Montana/Dakotas State Director (Acting)

Jerry Davis became the acting State Director for Montana/Dakotas in May 2026. Prior to this role, Davis was the acting Utah State Director since June 2025, leading a team that administers nearly 22.8 million acres of public lands, representing about 42 percent of the state. He has also served as the Deputy State Director for Resources and Planning in Arizona, playing a major role in advancing statewide program policy, strategic planning, and operational goals across nearly every corner of the bureau’s mission. Davis joined the BLM in 2014 as Arizona’s chief cadastral surveyor. During his tenure with the BLM, he has stepped up to serve in a variety of roles. Davis began his career serving as a geospatial intelligence specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps. After the Corps, he worked for a variety of private sector consulting firms on land and development projects spanning the West Coast before returning to public service in 2011 as a regional land surveyor for the Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento, California.
