April 22: Canyons of the Ancients Roadside Clean-Up

Join BLM Canyons of the Ancients National Monument staff and the Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance this Earth Day to help clean up one of the places we love!

Monday, April 22, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Sand Canyon Trailhead Parking Area
12543 Rd G, Cortez, CO  81321

9:00 a.m. - Meet at the original Sand Canyon trailhead parking area (Castle Rock). We will begin with a special presentation by BLM staff.
10:00 a.m. - Tailgate safety talk and clean-up day information at Sand Canyon parking area (near the blue Dodge Ram BLM truck)

Following the safety talk, we will regroup and branch out to different areas along County Road G for a roadside clean-up. Some will stay at Sand Canyon Trailhead, while others will head towards Rincon, find safe places to park, and walk along the roadside.

Clean-up activities will conclude by 12 noon. We will meet back at Sand Canyon Trailhead to dispose of e-waste and trash by the blue Dodge Ram BLM truck.

Trash bags, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided. 

Wear layers, sturdy shoes, a hat, and sunglasses and remember to bring sunscreen and a water bottle!
