LARSON CREEK WILDERNESS STUDY AREA

 

Values

The Larson Creek WSA is adjacent to the Uncompahgre Wilderness (managed by the USFS). This is forested terrain in the lower canyon of Larson Creek. Vegetation consists mainly of mixed spruce, fir, aspen, alpine grasses, sedges, and forbs. Fauna includes elk, deer, black bear, various small mammals, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats.

Visitation Information

The Larson Creek WSA is located in Hinsdale County, 2 miles north of Lake City. Access to the WSA is cross country hiking through steep terrain from the adjacent Uncompahgre Wilderness.
