Public Workshops Scheduled on Upcoming Fuels Reduction Contracts

The Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, and U.S. Forest Service plan to issue multiple contracts for fuels management reduction work to reduce the risk of wildland fires.In order to help potential contractors understand this solicitation, the BLM is hosting pre-bid workshops throughout the state that will be open to the public on Oct. 6. Locations for those workshops are listed below.These contracts support wildfire hazard reduction, prescribed burning, vegetation management, and burn unit preparation. They may also include furnishing labor, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals to perform all work necessary to conduct slashing, girdling, lop and scatter, selective slashing, pruning, hand piling and cover, grubbing, fire line construction, fuels pullback, prescribed burning, snag felling, roadblock removal/restoration, and herbicide application.Solicitation Number L09PS00981 for this Request for Proposals will close on Oct. 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. From www.fedconnect.net, interested parties can access the solicitation by clicking "search public opportunities," change search criteria to "reference number", type in the solicitation number (L09PS00981) and click "search."
