A view of the Sacramento River Rail Trail near Redding.REDDING, Calif. – Access to parts of the Sacramento River Rail Trail near Redding will be limited from July 23 to 26, while a repaving project is underway.

Crews will be completing grading and paving replacement in areas where fire-damaged culverts were replaced.  Work will be underway on various parts of the trail from the Keswick Trailhead north to the Keswick Boat Launch, including the Rock Creek Trailhead, and access will be limited.  Visitors can still access the trail from the Keswick Boat Launch and from Shasta Dam.

“Because this project involves heavy trucks and paving equipment we have to temporarily limit access to this section of the trail for public safety,” said Sara Acridge, assistant manager of the Bureau of Land Management’s Redding Field Office.  “This is the latest in a series of projects to restore areas that were impacted by the Carr fire, ensuring that the area is safe and convenient for public access.”

Acridge said work will not affect the network of mountain bike trails on the east side of the Sacramento River, all of which remain open.  More information is available from the BLM Redding Field Office, 530-224-2100.
