Alaska frontiers Magazine Winter 2017-2018 - Issue 128

Cover of Alaska Frontiers Magazine 128: America's Coolest Trail

This issue we are celebrating the Iditarod National Historic Trail and it’s 40th birthday, along with 50th Anniversary of the National Trails System (see http://www.trails50.org #FindYourWay). While the 2008-2012 Iditarod Trail Centennial commemorated the Gold Rush and history of the trail, the Iditarod remains the only National Historic Trail in Alaska and the first designated National Historic Trail. We are including stories from around the state and updates on land use planning and much more. We hope you enjoy this Winter 2017-2018 issue.

Also in this issue is Nature Gets Hygge [Cozy] too!, Tales, Fish, Weirs and a Potlatch, At-Risk Alaskan Youth get PEGed by Archaeology, In the Wake of Disaster ... Hurricanes Irma and Maria, In Alaska, innovation is elementary, Fireside Chat Series still Drawing in Lifelong Learners, Enjoy your public trails at the BLM’s Campbell Tract, Discover White Mountains National Recreation Area, Small Mine Operator Wins Big, Vengeful bears and survey sleuthing, and news from around the state.
