On June 18, 2022, representatives of the five Tribes on the Bears Ears Commission, the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service, and the Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management signed a Inter-Governmental Cooperative Agreement focused on the cooperative management of the Federal lands and resources of the Bears Ears National Monument.
