The Box Canyon Recreational Shooting Site has 3 shooting areas, each with its own hard-packed parking lot with one accessible concrete parking space that is painted, signed, and has a striped access aisle. The general parking spots are delineated by black and white striped parking stops.
Sporting Clay/Skeet Shooting Area. The first parking lot you reach from the north entrance off N Hidden Valley Road is for sporting clay/skeet shooting (shotguns only). It has 12 general parking spaces and 1 accessible parking space that face the packed dirt shooting bays. There is a covered information kiosk and 2 trash cans.
50- and 100-Yard Pistol Area. The next parking lot to the west is for target shooting with pistols. It has 18 general parking spaces and 1 accessible parking space that face the packed dirt shooting bays. There are 2 covered information kiosks, trash cans, and metal targets.
Behind this parking lot is an accessible double-vault toilet. Visitors using mobility devices may want to enter on the right side (men’s) as the lip from the ground surface to the concrete slab is more pronounced on the left side.
100-, 200-, and 300-Yard Rifle Area. The rifle-only shooting bays can be reached by continuing west-southwest past the pistol area or by entering the site at the south entrance off N Hidden Valley Road. The parking lot for this area has 8 general parking spaces and 1 accessible parking space that face the packed dirt shooting bays. There is a covered information kiosk and 3 trash cans.
Behind this parking lot is an accessible double-vault toilet. The entrance on natural ground to concrete slab is fairly even (not much of a lip) whether you enter from the left or the right.
The site has no running water. Cell service is poor.
