Palisade Plunge Trail

Phase One of the Palisade Plunge Trail is open to the public on May 29, 2021 

The "Plunge" begins on top of the Grand Mesa, at almost 11,000 feet elevation, and traverses 32 miles through diverse terrain with a 6,000 foot decent to the Town of Palisade. Phase one, begins on Lands End Road, approximately three miles below the Lands End Observatory and traverses over 17 miles to Hwy. 6 and the Palisade Rim Trailhead. This section of the Palisade Plunge navigates remote, backcountry terrain with some sections of extreme exposure recommended only for experienced riders.

Palisade Plunge Map

The Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction Field Office, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service Grand Valley Ranger District and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, developed the Palisade Plunge, a 32-mile non-motorized single-track trail for use by mountain bikers and hikers. The Palisade Plunge is a collaborative effort between the three federal agencies, the Town of Palisade, the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association (COPMOBA), Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and Mesa County.

Off-highway vehicle adventures coming soon! 

The BLM, volunteers and partners are connecting trails in Bangs Canyon, just west of Grand Junction. The new trails will provide connectivity and adventure for 50-inch side by sides, ATVs, dirt bikes, e-bikes, and mountain bikes. With amazing views, technical trails, and new destinations, this trail system will be a new adventure to explore.
