BLM Closes Public Lands in Garfield County Due to 310 Fire
PARACHUTE, Colo. — The Bureau of Land Management Colorado River Valley Field Office has closed public lands in Garfield County within the 310 Fire to support wildfire response efforts and protect public safety. This temporary emergency closure is effective immediately until further notice.
BLM-managed public lands east of the town of Parachute and the community of Battlement Mesa that are south and east of Interstate 70 are closed to all public entry and use. A map of these areas is available for download (linked below).
"Our top priority is the safety of both the public and the dedicated firefighters working to contain the 310 Fire," said BLM Colorado River Valley Field Office Manager Lisa Dawson. "By temporarily closing these lands, we are reducing exposure to hazardous conditions and supporting the wildfire response efforts. We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work together to protect lives and resources."
Note that this closure is in addition to existing fire restrictions currently in place.
