Celebrate National Public Lands Day with BLM Arizona

Looking to volunteer and give back to public lands? Join the Bureau of Land Management in Arizona for National Public Lands Day! Held the last Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. This year, BLM Arizona will host National Public Lands Day events beginning Sept. 26 and continuing into December.

Our public lands belong to all of us, and every minute you spend volunteering counts toward preserving these beautiful spaces for generations to come. BLM Arizona has eight exciting events coming up across the state. Find an event near you and make a difference.  

Upcoming BLM Arizona National Public Lands Day Events:

Sept. 26 – California Condor Release

Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona Strip Field Office

Celebrate 30 years of condor recovery and conservation in northern Arizona. The Peregrine Fund will release four captive-bred California Condors at the Condor Viewing Site within the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.

Sept. 26 – Lower Indian Spring Kiosk Replacement & Trail Maintenance 

Kingman Field Office  

Help replace a kiosk at the Lower Indian Spring Trailhead and maintain parts of the Lower Indian Spring Trail along with the Dolan Springs Trails Association and the BLM’s Kingman Field Office.

Oct. 10 – San Pedro House Xeriscape Garden

San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Tucson Field Office

Join in on a collaboration workday with the Friends of the San Pedro River and Fort Huachuca. The activity will involve the maintenance of the xeriscape garden on the grounds of the San Pedro House.

Oct. 13 – Lake Havasu Clean Up Days

Lake Havasu Field Office

Join the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office, Lake Havasu Marine Association, and Havasu Riviera Marina in trash removal, grounds cleaning, and maintenance at recreational boat-in sites along the Arizona shoreline of Lake Havasu.

Oct. 24 – Aravaipa Creek Invasive Vinca Removal

Safford Field Office

Remove invasive species to benefit the unique habitat at Aravaipa Creek. The target species for removal is vinca, an invasive weed that smothers and crowds out native riparian plants.  

Oct. 24 – Box Canyon Area Clean Up

Wickenburg, Hassayampa Field Office

Join the BLM and Wickenburg Conservation Foundation as we remove scattered trash and refresh the Box Canyon area north of Wickenburg, one of the community’s most popular outdoor destinations.    

Nov. 12 – Fourth Grade Outdoor Classroom Day

Las Cienegas National Conservation Area, Tucson Field Office

The outdoor classroom event provides fourth graders an opportunity to learn about the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area from field office staff and the history of the Empire Ranch from volunteers of the Empire Ranch Foundation.

Dec. 12 – Ironwood Forest National Monument Fencing Cleanup

Ironwood Forest National Monument, Tucson Field Office

Help the Friends of Ironwood Forest remove fencing that is no longer needed at the Institute for Bird Populations Silverbell Site.
