My Wild Horse Story: Jen and Angelo

By Jen Sullivan, Virginia

BEST $25 EVER SPENT!! The mustang who turned out to be PRICELESS!

Angelo is from the Sinbad Herd Management Area, Utah. He was a 14'1 all-around intelligent, brave, willing partner who lived the high life in Virginia and one of the BEST equines I have ever known. I was so privileged to have him in my life, and we developed a deep bond over the years. Although he was quirky and not for everyone, I knew all his quirks and there was no other horse I trusted more, and he trusted me. He went from a reactive, anti-social guy to a brave, Steady Eddy, rock-solid trail horse that had a calming influence on other horses. He was a curious, bold, confident, intrepid explorer who loved to jump right on the trailer with a 'Let's Go!' attitude.

He helped me regain my confidence after a bad accident. He was uniquely his own horse and totally did his own thing (we had that in common). He did not give a fig about what other horses were doing. If we were with a group and the whole group turned right, he would turn left, and he would be happy to go on his merry way. At one time, I thought I wanted a flashier, more athletic horse, but now I realize he was worth his weight in gold and irreplaceable! There are so many mustangs waiting in holding pens that need homes that are diamonds in the rough. Please give mustangs a chance and spread the word!! (Photo credit Pat Brescia)
