BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

The Bureau of Land Management Jarbidge Field Office completed the removal of excess wild horses from the Saylor Creek Herd Management Area Wednesday. The gather resulted in 103 horses gathered.

BLM to begin gathering wild horses from Saylor Creek Wild Horse Herd Management Area

On about July 15, 2026, the Jarbidge Field Office will begin a wild horse gather in the Saylor Creek Wild Horse Herd Management Area (HMA), 15 miles south of Glenns Ferry in Owyhee and Elmore Counties. The BLM plans to gather approximately 100 and remove approximately 68 excess wild horses using the helicopter drive trap method.
