BLM Expands Temporary Closure for BLM Lands in Washington County Due to Rapid Growth on Tartar Fire
WEISER, Idaho—The Bureau of Land Management Four Rivers Field Office is expanding a temporary closure of BLM-managed lands, roads, and trails due to the rapid growth of the Tartar Fire. This expanded closure covers the Snake River as a western and southern boundary below Weiser, ID, following the Weiser River Road to the east and then north to US-95 and Cambridge, ID, with Hwy 71 and the Payette National Forest as the northern boundary headed west back to the Snake River. The closure will remain in effect until August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the public and firefighters engaged in suppression operations and post-fire emergency stabilization and rehabilitation activities on the Tartar Fire. This closure does not affect private land. The area will be monitored by BLM Law Enforcement personnel to ensure compliance with the closure.
