Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM adjusts fire-related closures in Gunnison and Uncompahgre field offices

The Bureau of Land Management adjusted temporary emergency fire closures in Colorado’s Gunnison and Uncompahgre field offices, reopening some public lands while reducing a separate closure area.

Beall Trail temporarily closed for forest health treatments near Steamboat Springs

The Beall Trail near Steamboat Springs was temporarily closed on Aug. 25 for collaborative fuels reduction work with the Colorado State Forest Service. The closure is expected to last about two weeks.

BLM Reopens Public Lands in Garfield County After 310 Fire

BLM reduces fire restrictions in eastern Colorado

The Rocky Mountain District in eastern Colorado is reducing fire restrictions from Stage 2 to Stage 1 on BLM-administered public lands within the Royal Gorge and San Luis Valley field offices, effective Aug. 18.

BLM Gunnison Field Office reduces Elk Fire emergency closure area

Progress on the Elk Fire has allowed the Bureau of Land Management to reduce the emergency closure area on public lands in Gunnison and Hinsdale counties.
