Fire restrictions ease in Little Snake Field Office
CRAIG, Colo. – Seasonal fire conditions have improved enough for the Bureau of Land Management to ease fire restrictions in part of Colorado’s Northwest District.
Effective Sept. 11, 2026, Stage 1 fire restrictions on BLM-administered public lands in the Little Snake Field Office are lifted. Only the standard year-round wildfire prevention rules remain in effect.
The change gives visitors more flexibility when enjoying public lands, but some wildfire prevention rules always apply. These include prohibitions on leaving a fire unattended or unextinguished, using fireworks, discharging firearms with incendiary or tracer ammunition, and burning hazardous or explosive materials.
Off-road vehicles on public lands must also be equipped with a properly installed spark arrester as required by federal regulations.
Visitors should check current fire restrictions before heading outdoors and remember that conditions can change quickly. Never leave a campfire unattended and make sure it is completely out and cold to the touch before leaving.
