Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM seeks input on proposed geothermal leasing in southern Idaho

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking input on proposed geothermal leasing of five parcels totaling approximately 19,596 acres across Blaine, Camas, and Cassia counties. The comment period will end Aug. 29, 2025. Leasing of these parcels will allow lessees to explore the potential for future geothermal development.

BLM seeks input on potential new campground

The BLM Richfield Field Office is seeking public comments on a proposed new campground east of Torrey, off Beas Lewis Flat Rd. The area is popular for dispersed camping due to proximity to Capitol Reef National Park.

The University of Alaska has filed an application for a recordable disclaimer of interest application with the Bureau of Land Management for the lands described in Mineral Survey No. 2407.

BLM issues emergency area closure due to Vees Fire in Washakie County

The Bureau of Land Management Worland Field Office has issued an emergency closure of public lands in Washakie County affected by the Vees Fire to ensure public and firefighter safety during active suppression efforts.

BLM to close T.K. Jones Campground for surface re-paving

Located near Yuma, T.K. Jones Campground will be temporarily closed to camping from August 2 through August 12.

BLM Arizona Strip District issues emergency closure order for south House Rock Valley

The Arizona Strip District has temporarily closed BLM-managed public lands for public and firefighter safety, and to allow fire suppression crews to continue to safely respond to the Dragon Bravo Fire.

BLM receives right-of-way application for proposed Ridgeline Expansion Pipeline in Tennessee

The BLM received an Application for Transportation and Utility Systems on Public Lands (SF-299) from East Tennessee Natural Gas, LCC, requesting permission to construct the proposed Ridgeline Expansion Pipeline under a right-of-way authorization.

Proposed reinstatement of terminated oil and gas leases in Weld County, CO

Okreek Oil and Gas LLC, Bison IV Properties Colorado, LLC, and Morning Gun Exploration LLC, filed timely petitions with the BLM for reinstatement of competitive oil and gas leases located in Weld County, Colorado.

BLM reduces fire closure for the western White Mountains National Recreation Area

BLM Eastern Interior Field Office issued a fire closure order AK020-25-007 to reduce the area closed in the western portion of the White Mountains National Recreation Area.
