BLM, Reclamation Complete Environmental Review for Proposed Seedskadee Withdrawal Revocation
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation completed an environmental assessment and signed a finding of no significant impact Sept. 28 for a proposed partial revocation of the Seedskadee Project withdrawals. The proposal covers approximately 163,230 acres near Fontenelle Reservoir and the Green River in southwest Wyoming.
Reclamation has determined that the lands are no longer needed for Seedskadee Project purposes. BLM has managed much of the area under agreements with Reclamation for more than 40 years. If the revocation is approved, administrative jurisdiction over the affected lands would return to BLM. The environmental assessment anticipates that fishing, boating, camping and other recreational opportunities would remain largely unchanged.
The completed environmental review does not revoke the withdrawals. BLM will next complete a suitability determination and prepare a Public Land Order for the Department of the Interior’s consideration. A final approved order would be needed to enact the revocation.
