Public review open for Clan Alpine Horse Gather
CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management Stillwater Field Office has published a Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA) document for 30-day public review for the 2026 Clan Alpine Horse Gather. This action is based on previously completed environmental analysis completed in September 2023. Public comment will be accepted through October 25, 2026.
The gather will remove excess wild horses from within and outside the Clan Alpine Herd Management Area to reach the low Appropriate Management Level previously established at 612 horses. All gather operations will follow the Comprehensive Animal Welfare Program, and no new ground disturbance or additional rights would be granted under this action. Temporary trap sites and any associated facilities will be placed in previously disturbed locations whenever possible, and cultural resource reviews will occur as required.
