New Decision Issued by BLM for Indian Peak Range Watershed Restoration Plan
The Bureau of Land Management’s Cedar City Field Office has issued a new Decision Record authorizing the Indian Peak Range Watershed Restoration Plan.
As part of this project, multiple types of vegetation treatments will be completed around the Hamlin and Pine Valleys, and along the Indian Peak Range. These treatments are designed to remove encroached pinyon pine and juniper trees; restore resilient grasses, forbs, and shrubs; and reduce invasive annual grasses. Areas and treatments were selected with the goal to improve ecological conditions, strengthen long-term landscape resiliency, and reduce catastrophic loss following wildfire.
Proposed treatments include prescribed fire, and mechanical, manual and herbicide vegetation treatment methods.
