BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM to Begin Aerial Cheatgrass Treatments South of Rock Springs

The Bureau of Land Management’s Rock Springs Field Office, in coordination with the Sweetwater County Weed and Pest Control District, will begin aerial cheatgrass treatments to combat invasive cheatgrass approximately 16,500 acres of public and partner-managed lands south of Rock Springs from late July through early September 2026, pending favorable weather conditions.

BLM Approves Shute Creek Carbon Dioxide Disposal and Pipeline Project

The Bureau of Land Management today approved the Shute Creek 7-34 carbon dioxide disposal project in Lincoln and Sweetwater counties. The well will be over 18,000 feet deep and permanently sequester excess carbon from the Shute Creek Gas Plant in federal pore space deep underground.
