Fire Restrictions Lifted in Wind River Big Horn Basin District
WORLAND, Wyo. — Improved fire conditions across the Wind River Big Horn Basin District are allowing the Bureau of Land Management to lift fire restrictions on BLM-managed public lands within the district effective Sept. 23.
The restrictions will end on BLM-managed public lands within Fremont, Natrona, Big Horn, Park, Washakie and Hot Springs counties. The BLM put the restrictions in place to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during periods of elevated fire danger.
Although these restrictions are ending, the BLM Wyoming Year-Round Fire Prevention Order remains in effect on BLM-managed public lands statewide. The year-round order prohibits activities that can cause wildfires, including the use of fireworks and exploding targets, and requires precautions when using equipment that could produce sparks.
