BLM unveils redesigned NEPA Register for easier public access

On January 20, 2026, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has launched a redesigned National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Register, making it easier than ever for the public and stakeholders to access planning documents and participate in land management decisions. The updated site, part of BLM’s ePlanning platform modernization, provides NEPA Register visitors with a fresh, user-friendly layout and powerful new features.

What is NEPA?

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), passed in 1970, is a cornerstone of environmental protection in the United States. It requires federal agencies to evaluate the environmental impacts of proposed actions—such as land development, resource extraction, or infrastructure projects—in order to inform decision makers and the public before decisions are made. The NEPA Register is BLM’s central online resource for sharing these documents and updates.

What’s New in the NEPA Register?

✅ Modern, mobile-friendly design for easy access on any device

✅ Improved navigation and simplified layout

✅ Enhanced search tools with keyword and filter options to quickly find projects

✅ Modifiable search results columns to easily view project information

The NEPA Register is now available at https://eplanning.blm.gov. Please bookmark this page for quick access to planning documents and updates in your area.

This modernization reflects BLM’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and public engagement in managing America’s public lands. Whether you're a longtime user or visiting for the first time, we invite you to explore the new NEPA Register today and stay informed about projects that matter to you.
