Ever wondered what a wild horse adoption event really looks like?

Take a look back at a day at Deerwood Ranch, where the Bureau of Land Management and its partners came together to connect wild horses and burros with new homes.

This event wasn’t just about adoptions—it was about community. From scenic wagon rides to meet the resident mustangs, to local vendors, wood-fired pizza, and even a “show and tell” from previous adopters, the day celebrated the deep bond between people and the wild horses they’ve welcomed into their lives.

Each year, the BLM offers wild horses and burros at this event, and this year was no exception. Several animals found new homes thanks to the dedication of staff, volunteers, and the passionate public. Every adoption supported healthy herd management on public lands and helped preserve the legacy of America’s wild horses.

Since 1971, the BLM has placed nearly 290,000 wild horses and burros into private care. These adoptions not only provide homes but preserve an important piece of the American West for future generations. Interested in adopting?
