Lands made available for Coal Leasing

Under Section 50203 of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), enacted on July 4, 2025, the Secretary of the Interior is making approximately 13,103,000 acres of Federal mineral estate available for coal leasing. This acreage, determined using GIS data, reflects the areas identified under the authority of OBBBA for potential leasing.
