AUBERRY, Calif. – Water has been turned off at the San Joaquin River Gorge visitor facilities, located about 35 miles northeast of Fresno near Auberry, while the Bureau of Land Management makes improvements to the on-site public water system.

During this time, facilities including the Visitor Center, Aholul Group Campground, Yeh-Gub-Weh-Tuh Trailhead Campground, Equestrian Camp and Nuckahee learning Center will remain open but will have no water available to the public until upgrades are complete, which could take several weeks.

Please plan ahead and be prepared: bring plenty of drinking water (for both you and your animals) and a means to put out your campfire (dead-out and cold to the touch). Water can be purchased in Auberry.

While water is inaccessible to visitors no fees (day use/camping) will be collected.  Once water is turned back on, day-use and camping fees will once again be collected.  Special Recreation Permits will continue to be required for group, commercial and competitive events.

For more information, please contact the San Joaquin River Gorge Visitor Center (559) 855-3492.
