Winnemucca, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management, Winnemucca District, Humboldt River Field Office (HRFO) has issued a Decision Record (DR) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based on the analysis provided in the Montezuma Mining, Inc. (MMI), South Sleeper Exploration Project, Environmental Assessment (EA).
The DR selects the Proposed Action, and upon approval of the Plan of Operations, MMI would begin the proposed exploration project analyzed in the EA. The project consists of the following exploration related activities: Construction of drill sites and roads; installation of geotechnical auger holes, geologic test pits/trenching, and water extraction/monitoring wells; and a meteorological station. The South Sleeper Project Area is approximately 30 miles north-northwest of Winnemucca in Humboldt County, Nevada and immediately south of the existing Sleeper Mine.
The EA, DR and FONSI are on the NEPA Register through BLM’s ePlanning website located at: http://1.usa.gov/1S3aecb. In addition, hardcopies of these documents are available at the HRFO at 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd., Winnemucca, Nevada, 89445, during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except federal holidays, or will be provided upon request.
