Pacific Connector Final Environmental Impact Statement Released October 28, 2015

Portland, Ore. – Today the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service are announcing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s release of Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Jordan Cove Energy and Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline Projects. Now that Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has released the FEIS, BLM and the U.S. Forest Service will move forward with consideration of land use plan amendments and an application for a right-of-way grant.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s FEIS for the Jordan Cove Energy and Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline Projects included the following plan amendments: Amendment of the BLM’s Coos Bay District, Roseburg District, Medford District, and Klamath Falls Field Office of the Lakeview District Resource Management Plans and the Umpqua National Forest, Rogue River National Forest, and Winema National Forest Land Management Plans.
The BLM and U.S. Forest Service plan amendments protest period will run until November 30, 2015. The U.S. Forest Service has chosen to adopt the BLM’s administrative review procedures for this specific project. The proposed pipeline crosses approximately 40 miles of BLM-administered lands and approximately 31 miles of U.S. Forest Service-administered lands. Less than one mile of Bureau of Reclamation-administered lands are crossed by the proposed pipeline. The FEIS has analyzed potential impacts to listed species, vegetation, habitat, wetlands and waterbodies, and visual resources that could be affected by the pipeline project. The proposed Liquefied Natural Gas export facility portion of the project is located entirely on private lands and is not included in the BLM or U.S. Forest Service proposed actions.
