The Lower Potomac Field Station has scheduled a public scoping meeting to share information about the current condition and potential future options of the equestrian stables located at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) in Lorton, Virginia.The meeting will be held on June 28, at 7:00 p.m. local time, at the Laurel Hill Golf Course Clubhouse located at 8701 Laurel Crest Dr., Lorton, Virginia 22079. The meeting will begin with a brief overview of the condition and short discussion of options for the 34-year-old barn, followed by a short question and answer period. No decisions will be made at this meeting but it is important to collect as wide a variety of the public's views and ideas as possible. The barn is currently being used as a boarding facility for private horses, while accommodating therapeutic riding and offering riding lessons to the public.The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and collect public comments, suggestions and ideas pertaining to the future of the structure. The public can submit their ideas, suggestions or comments through an on-site drop box, or via the U.S. Postal Service, or by e-mail to: ES_Meadowood@es.blm.gov. All ideas, suggestions and comments are subject to the Freedom of Information Act and must be postmarked no later than Friday, July 29.For further information, please contact E.
