Springfield, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be repairing the fish ladders at Lake Creek Falls. To complete this work, the Lake Creek Falls Recreation Site and nearby parking area will be temporary closed to public access from early July thru mid-September.

Since the Lake Creek Falls is home to coho salmon, a species listed as Threatened on the Endangered Species List, contractors are required to work within the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s in stream work window, which runs from July 1st through September 15th. “We understand this work coincides with a time when many visitors typically enjoy swimming, picnicking and hiking in the area,” said Cheryl Adcock, Siuslaw Field Office Manager. “We appreciate the public’s understanding as we complete these necessary improvements to support fish passage in Lake Creek.”

The BLM will be hosting a public meeting on May 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. to provide information and address questions on this project. The meeting will be at the Triangle Lake Grange, located at 20264 Blachly Grange Rd. in Blachly, Oregon.

A closure notice and map of the affected area will be posted at the BLM Northwest Oregon District's Springfield Interagency Office, located at 3601 Pierce Parkway, Suite E in Springfield, OR. Interested persons may also access the closure notice and map online at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/nepa/nepa_register.do
