Salt Lake City—The Bureau of Land Management today announced it will hold a meeting of the Utah Resource Advisory Council (RAC), demonstrating that partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands.  The public is welcome to attend the meeting which will occur on Dec. 11 and 12, 2017, at the Hideout Community Center, 648 Hideout Way, Monticello, Utah, 84535.  On Dec. 11, the RAC will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  A field tour of the Indian Creek area will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  On Dec. 12, the RAC will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.      

Planned agenda items at the meeting include Secretary of the Interior priorities, a Canyon Country District overview, Monticello Field Office updates, a statewide oil and gas leasing update, the Utah recreation fee program initiative, Manti-La Sal National Forest’s recreation fee proposal, and updates on current resource management planning efforts and major projects, and RAC work projects and business.

A half-hour public comment period, during which the public may address the RAC, will take place from 11:00-11:30 a.m. on Dec. 12.  Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.

Resource Advisory Councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve.  The 15-member RAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues in Utah.
