BLM seeks public comment on proposed Special Recreation Permit for helicopter shuttle

MOAB, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management Moab Field Office is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment analyzing the potential impacts of issuing a Special Recreation Permit - for a commercial helicopter shuttle service between Canyonlands Field Airport and the Mineral Bottom airstrip in Grand County.
The proposed shuttle service would expand options for river put-in and take-out at the Mineral Bottom river access area, near the confluence of Mineral and Labyrinth Canyons. The proposal includes a maximum of three people per flight and up to one flight per week, based on user demand. The EA includes a detailed analysis of potential impacts to other recreational users and wildlife.
The EA is available for public review via the ePlanning website: https://go.usa.gov/xnKfj. Comments may be submitted through Dec. 7, 2017 directly through this website or by mail. The most effective comments address concerns specific to the analysis and the specific project. Comments will be considered in finalizing the EA, which will serve as the basis for making a decision to approve or deny this request.
