Moab, Utah -- The Bureau of Land Management  (BLM ) Moab Field Office is seeking input on an Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzing potential impacts of renewing a ten year grazing permit for the Scharf Mesa, Hotel Mesa, and Sand Flats allotments.  These grazing allotments cover about 77,671 acres located about 17 to 19 air miles northeast of Moab in the Dolores Triangle area near the Utah-Colorado border.  These allotments also contain small portions of intermingled private lands and lands managed by State Trust Lands.  Both cattle and sheep have historically grazed in this area.

The EA analyzes three alternatives to help frame and disclose potential impacts of the proposal, and address issues identified during scoping.  The proposed action includes changes to the season of use and a grazing rotation schedule intended to maintain and improve the rangeland health.

The EA and map are available on the ePlanning website at:  http://go.usa.gov/cSNZh
