NORTH BEND, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Coos Bay District will lift fire restrictions on public lands administered by the BLM on the southern Oregon Coast at 12:01 a.m. on October 14, 2020.
Campfires and other activities, such as using a chainsaw, operating a vehicle off-road, and smoking are again permitted on most of the BLM-managed lands in Coos, Curry, and western Douglas Counties.
Visitors are reminded to always extinguish campfires completely, and only use campfires in areas free of flammable vegetation.
The Fire Prevention Order (Rescind) is available at www.blm.gov/programs/public-safety-and-fire/fire-and-aviation/regional-info/oregon-washington/fire-restrictions.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
