GLENNALLEN, Alaska – The Bureau of Land Management Glennallen Field Office today announced a 30-day scoping period, seeking public input on issues and concerns related to a proposal by Ocean Raft Alaska.

Ocean Raft Alaska is a commercial tourism business operating from Skagway, providing sightseeing trips by boat.  Ocean Raft Alaska is seeking a Special Recreation Permit and land lease to establish a new land-based site within a cove along the western edge of Taiya Inlet, between Skagway and Haines.  The new site would include a boat dock, stairs, suspension bridge and handrails.  All improvements would be temporary in nature and removable if necessary.

The BLM strives to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve and welcomes public input for this proposal, as well as stakeholder and agency review, including National Environmental Policy Act analysis. The public scoping period begins Thursday, October 5 and ends Friday, November 3.
