Nome Field Station

The BLM Anchorage Field Office maintains a field station in the western Alaska coastal community of Nome, on the shores of Norton Sound. The Nome Field Station is staffed year-round and provides important services for local residents such as issuing hunting permits for qualified users under the federal subsistence regulations. Other priorities include administering special recreation permits for big-game guiding, processing land-use authorizations, and overseeing small scale mining operations.
