Public Input Open for Castle Mountain Mine Proposal

The BLM is seeking public input on the proposed Castle Mountain Mine Phase 2 Project in San Bernardino County. The proposal would expand mining activities at the existing mine and supports efforts to increase American mineral production, reduce U.S. reliance on foreign minerals, enhance national security, and create jobs. Mojave Precious Metals Exploration Approved

The BLM has approved exploratory drilling on public lands south of Lone Pine to gather more data on known mineral deposits, including gold. The project supports domestic mineral production, helps reduce reliance on foreign minerals, and could contribute to job creation. Learn more.

BLM Officers Make History at Horse Academy

Seasonal Fire Restrictions Begin in Southern California

Seasonal fire restrictions are now in effect on BLM-managed public lands across Southern California to help reduce wildfire risk. Visitors should review the restrictions before heading out, as campfires, smoking, controlled-flame devices and target shooting are limited in certain areas. Read more detailed information.

Kit Fox Family Spotted at Carrizo Plain

A San Joaquin kit fox mother and her kits were recently spotted near the Goodwin Education Center at Carrizo Plain National Monument. OMSP Refresher Training Opens for EMS Professionals

BLM California is hosting an Operational Medical Support Program refresher training April 21–23, 2026, in El Dorado Hills, welcoming both returning providers and new EMS professionals. The training prepares EMRs and EMTs to deliver essential medical support to operational teams working in remote field environments across California. Learn more.
