MONTROSE, Colo. — To aid individuals in planning their use of our shared public lands, the Bureau of Land Management is issuing a reminder of ongoing and upcoming seasonal road and trail closures in the Gunnison, Tres Rios, and Uncompahgre field offices. These temporary closures help ensure public health and safety during changes in weather and wildlife habitat.

Hartman Rocks Special Recreation Management Area

All roads and trails south of Powerline Road are closed to motorized and mountain bike use from March 15 to May 15.

Signal Peak Special Recreation Management Area Zone

Multiple roads, routes, and trailheads will be closed within all zones of the RMA. Signs are posted in various areas, with the full closure list available on the field office’s seasonal closure webpage.

Baker’s Park (Silverton)

All designated roads and trails within the Baker Park trail system closed Dec. 1 to April 30.

Grandview Ridge

Closed from Dec. 1 to April 30.

Animas City Mountain

Closed Dec. 1 to April 30.

Perkins Peak

Closed Dec. 1 to April 30.

Closed March 15 to July 31.

Cortez Special Recreation Management Area

Chutes and Ladders, Aqueduct, and Summit are closed from Dec. 1 to April 30.

Burn Canyon Special Recreation Management Area

Burn Canyon trail system and all BLM routes are closed to motorized and mechanized travel from Dec. 1 to April 30.

Dry Creek Special Recreation Management Area

Multiple routes are closed to motorized or mechanized travel from Dec. 1 through late-March to mid-April. Signs are posted, with more information available on the field office’s seasonal closure webpage.

Jumbo Mountain Special Recreation Management Area

Routes east of the Powerline Connector are closed to all modes of travel, including mechanized, foot, and equestrian Dec.1 to April 15. Jumbo Ridge, Rock n Roll, and Shitake Ridge routes are closed to all modes of travel, including mechanized, foot, and equestrian, to protect golden eagles throughout their breeding cycle Dec. 15 to July 15.

Ridgway Special Recreation Management Area

Routes in the Ridgway Area Trails system are closed to all modes of travel, including mechanized, foot, and equestrian from Dec. 1 to April 30.

Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area

Portions of Black Ridge and Fruitland Mesa east of the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness, west of the Black Canyon Road, south of the Smith Fork drainage and north of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park are closed to motorized and mechanical uses December 1 to May 15. Some portions are closed to all human use from March 15 to May 15. More information can be found on the field office’s seasonal closure webpage.

Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area

Routes north of 25 Mesa Road and lands in Gibbler Gulch, Wagon Park, and Sawmill Mesa areas are closed to motorized and mechanical uses Dec. 1 to April 30.
