Online wild horse adoption event offers pick up in Oklahoma and Northern Nevada
Event Description
The Bureau of Land Management is offering more than 140 wild horses for adoption through its Internet-based Online Corral website, Aug. 18-25, 2025, with pickup in Oklahoma and Nevada. The online event features 3- to 6-year-old Nevada wild horses currently located at the BLM’s off-range corral in Fallon, NV.
“We’re excited to offer this opportunity to adopt a wild horse online and pick up in Northern Nevada and Oklahoma,” said Ruth Thompson, BLM Nevada wild horse and burro program manager. “Many of these horses come from Nevada’s public lands and all are ready to begin new lives with experienced and committed adopters.”
After finalizing their adoption online, adopters can make arrangements to pick up their wild horse at one of two locations:
- Palomino Valley Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Center, located at 15780 Pyramid Highway in Reno, NV on Sept. 25 or Sept. 26
- Pauls Valley Off-Range Corral, located on the west side of Interstate 35, approximately 45 miles south of Oklahoma City. Take Exit 74, Kimberlin Road, and go 1/4 mile west, and look for signs at the entrance. The pick-up dates are Oct. 14 or Oct. 17.
The Online Corral is the BLM’s internet-based platform where prospective adopters and purchasers can browse photos, videos and details about available wild horses and burros, submit applications, and adopt an animal – all from the comfort of their home. The Aug. 18-25event is a fixed-price event - animals can be adopted by approved applicants with a $125 fee on a first-come, first-served basis; no bidding required.
To participate in the online event, the public can visit the BLM’s Online Corral, create an account and submit an application for approval. To browse available animals, users can navigate to the Animals gallery, click the Adopt or Buy Now purchase method, then and click Search.
Interested participants are encouraged to submit an application as early as possible to become approved in time to adopt before the deadline on Aug. 25. To qualify, adopters must be at least 18 years old and meet facility requirements, including at least 400 square feet of corral space per animal, appropriate shelter, and fencing height based on animal type. Transport trailers must be covered, stock-type, and equipped with sturdy floors and swing gates. Detailed requirements are available on the BLM’s website.
