Event Description

ROSWELL, N.M. – Beginning the morning of Friday, April 19, and ending the evening of Saturday, April 20, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roswell Field Office will host the Yeti Trail Runners 100-Mile endurance run at Fort Stanton – Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area near Fort Stanton, New Mexico. Organizers of the run expect participants from 32 states to run the trail systems across BLM lands. They will use the Rob Jaggers Campground and day-use parking areas as a base. Yeti Trail Runners LLC obtained a special recreation permit from the BLM for this event.

“The public can expect to see a much heavier than normal presence of campers, vehicles and tents within the campground, as well as increased vehicle traffic on the surrounding roads on the days leading up to and throughout the duration of the event,” said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Jesse Vinson.

The BLM will monitor the event and post signs where necessary to advise the public. The BLM would like to remind the public that the campground is occupied on a first-come, first-served basis. During the event, the BLM recommends other camping areas within the National Conservation Area. These include the Cave Canyon Campground and other dispersed camping opportunities. Additionally, the Valley of Fires Recreation Area and the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site Campground will be open for recreational use. For more information about these and other BLM recreation areas, please visit www.blm.gov/visit.
