Selby Campground | California

Camping is available on a first come-first serve basis. Thirteen campsites with picnic tables, fire pits, horse corrals and a wheelchair accessible vault toilet. Electricity and drinking water is not available. There is no garbage service, please act responsibly and pack out any refuse you have. This campground is more secluded and the camper is only steps away from unlimited hiking in the Wilderness Study Area that lies outside the campground.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)

Cell phone reception is spotty at this site.

From the entrance, a packed-gravel loop road leads to an information kiosk and an accessible double vault toilet with a concrete bench next to it. Visitors must travel across mostly flat natural ground to get to the slightly uneven brick and concrete entrance to the toilets.

One of the campground's 3 water spigots, all operated with a twist-on, twist-off mechanism, sits on flat terrain near the toilet and campsite 12. The other 2 spigots are on somewhat uneven ground. One is located near campsites 1 and 2, in the northeastern part of the campground, and the other is south of the toilet, near campsites 9 and 10. Depending on conditions, water may not be available.

The loop connects the campground’s 12 individual and 1 small group campsite. Each campsite has a gravel and dirt surface, with a parking space, a concrete table with an extended end to accommodate wheelchair users, and a fire ring with grill attachment. Campsites 1 and 11 don’t have shade structures, but the other 11 campsites have shade shelters covering the picnic tables.

Although none of the campsites are designated as accessible, the flat, even terrain throughout the campground should be appropriate for most people using mobility devices.

Descriptions and photos uploaded June 2026. Please note that actual on-the-ground conditions may vary due to natural events (e.g., weather, wildfires, erosion), normal wear and tear, or site improvements.
