Clark Mountain Camp

Clark Mountain Camp, located on the southern end of the Clark Mountain Range, provides opportunities for tent camping and is only accessible with four-wheel drive vehicles. Located within the Clark Mountain Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC), the primitive camping site contains several picnic tables. There are no bathroom facilities or water available on site. The area is not accessible with RVs or trailers of any kind. Native Americans once utilized resources in the area for food and shelter. Later, the area was discovered to be rich in mineral deposits. The rugged road leads to terrain with a variety of vegetation and deep color contrast contributing to Clark Mountain's outstanding scenic quality. While visiting, you may discover the Clark Mountain hiking trail behind the camping area. Mule deer, desert bighorn sheep and many bird species can be found throughout the region. Always watch out for rattlesnakes when visiting remote areas in the California desert.
